Juneteenth at NAAM this year was a powerful reminder of what it means to honor the past while celebrating the present. Centered around the theme Juneteenth: A Movement for Joy, the day was filled with love, creativity, and community. It was a true reflection of joy as a form of resistance and resilience.
From the vibrant Black Artist Market on our campus to the energy of the Annual Skate to Freedom, to the launch of powerful new exhibitions and the sharing of books through our Knowledge is Power program, this Juneteenth was a bold and joyful affirmation that Black liberation lives in us all. We came together through art, music, knowledge, and movement, taking up space, embracing joy, and remembering those who made this freedom possible.
Thank you to our incredible sponsors and community partners for helping bring this vision to life. Your support helped make this day not only one to remember, but one that inspires us to keep moving forward together.
