The Grand Opening of Judkins Park Station marked a major milestone in connecting communities across Seattle and the Eastside. The day began with a ribbon cutting ceremony, where community leaders gathered to celebrate the completion of this transformative project. Following the ceremony, the first passenger light rail train departed, signaling a new era of access, mobility, and connection across the region.

From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the celebration continued with a vibrant, family-friendly street fair at Sam Smith Park. In partnership with the Northwest African American Museum and Sound Transit, the event featured live performances, local food vendors, small businesses, and community organizations. Guests enjoyed music, activities for all ages, and opportunities to connect with local partners, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere that brought the community together in celebration.
