Accessibility

The Northwest African American Museum is committed to creating inclusive and accessible experiences for all people to feel welcome and safe. The museum is a single story experience and wheelchair accessible throughout. The upper two floors of the Colman School building are Low Income Housing provided by the Urban League of Seattle.

Accommodations

  • Wheelchair accessible parking spaces are located nearest to the building in the Residential Side Parking area.  

  • Electronically assisted doors are located at the Main Entrance. 

  • Courtesy wheelchairs are available on a first come, first serve basis.

  • Accessible restrooms and stalls are located on the North and South sides of the building. 

  • Baby changing stations are located on the North and South sides of the building. 

  • Single stall all-gender Restrooms are located on the North side of the building. 

  • Closed captioning is available on videos in the Journey Gallery and Community Living Room.
