Happy Mother’s Day from NAAM!

Today, we honor the love, labor, and legacy of Black mothersβ€”the caretakers, nurturers, leaders, and culture bearers who hold generations together with grace and strength.

As a small gesture of gratitude, we’ll be giving away free copies of Tricia Hersey’s powerful book Rest is Resistance to mothers while supplies last.

Self-Portraits with AshaAung Helmstetter

Join us on Self-Portraits with AshaAung on Thursday, May 22. In this two-hour creative workshop, we will create a genuine space for self-care and understanding through abstract self-portraiture. Plan to wear clothes that you feel comfortable getting paint on. This workshop is aimed towards adults from all artistic skill levels.

Share Your Voice, Shape the Exhibit

Where do we go from here as a community? Share your thoughts in a online form. Then visit the museum later this year to see how Curry transforms your responses into art.

Interactive Story Time

Enjoy a reading of β€œGrammy and Me”, written and illustrated by Tyrah Majors. The children's book illustrates the wholehearted day in the life of a young girl and her great grandmother.
