Self Portraits with AshaAung Helmstetter

  • Northwest African American Museum 2300 South Massachusetts Street Seattle, WA, 98144 United States (map)

“I use abstract self portraits as a form of journaling, to stay grounded with myself through highs and lows. These abstracts directly influence the way I paint large pieces, including the ones you see in Recognition, Love, and Healing.”

-AshaAung Helmstetter

And now, a moment for Self! Join NAAM and AshaAung Helmstetter in the practice of creating emotional self portraits as abstract reflection. In this two-hour activity, we’ll create a kind, and genuine space for self-care and understanding. Folks should wear clothes they feel comfortable getting paint on. This workshop is aimed towards adults from all artistic skill levels.
