October Freedom Day: Honoring Selma’s Freedom Day | REGISTER TO ATTEND
Sunday, October 5, 2025 | Tours at 12:00PM & 2:00PM | Free Admission

Join us on Sunday, October 5 as we honor this pivotal moment in history, Selma’s Freedom Day. Visitors will receive a complimentary copy of Grandaddy’s Turn: A Journey to the Ballot Box while supplies last, and are invited to experience two free docent-led tours of the museum at 12:00PM and 2:00PM.

This October, NAAM’s monthly Freedom Day commemorates Selma’s Freedom Day of October 7, 1963 when hundreds of Black residents stood in line at the Dallas County Courthouse, risking intimidation and violence to claim their right to vote. Their courage exposed the brutal reality of voter suppression and ignited the movement that led to the Selma-to-Montgomery marches and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
