The Northwest African American Museum is located at 2300 S. Massachusetts Street (23rd and S. Massachusetts St.) in the heart of Seattle’s Central District, just 2.3 miles or 10 minutes by car, from downtown. Free parking is available in our parking lot, directly outside the museum.

The Museum is housed in the historic Colman School building (built in 1909) which overlooks a beautiful sprawling green park named for rock legend Jimi Hendrix.

Free First Thursday
NAAM is one of several city museums that offer free museum admission on Free First Thursday. Free First Thursday means that all guests are admitted free of charge. This is a great option for group outings. We do not offer guided tours on this day but we do have a self -guided tour of the Journey Gallery through the Kaji.me app. (link to Kaji.me)
Admission by Donation
On Admission by Donation Days, guests are invited to donate for admission. These days often coincide with our large community events. Admission by donation days for 2018 are The MLK Day celebration and The Roots Picnic.
