The museum is located in old Coleman School building in the heart of the Central District of Seattle . The Northwest African American Museum has three rooms that are available to rent for business or social events. You can rent the Legacy Gallery, Artist Studio 1, Artist Studio 2 or all three. On a clear day, you can see the majestic beauty of Mount Rainier. There is ample parking between the museum and the adjacent Jimi Hendrix Park.
The Legacy Gallery
At 2340 SQ. FT this gallery is the most spacious rental room the Museum offers. This gallery features high ceilings, beautiful hardwood floors, and direct access to outside through sliding barn doors. The Legacy Gallery has built in speakers, electronic audio/visual control panel and a LCD projector. It’s a great place for a wedding reception, special birthday celebration, meet and greet workshops, retreats, lectures or annual organizational events. The Legacy Gallery seats approximately 160p and has a stand up reception capacity of 215 people.
Artist Studio I
The Artist Studio I space is appropriate for small to medium-sized groups of up to 56 seated or 75 reception guests. The 990 square feet of space is ideal for intimate events or board meetings, cocktail receptions, conferences, and luncheon or dinner parties. This space opens out onto the Outside Artists Studio, for a sunny addition to a variety of outdoor spring and summer event.
Artist Studio II
The Artist Studio II is a slightly smaller (960 sq. ft.) adjoining space that can conveniently be used for smaller receptions, meetings, workshops and retreats. The Artist Studio II also has a capacity of 48 seated or 65 reception guests. The room includes a drop down screen, speakers and an LCD projector.
Whether you are planning a business meeting, staff training, social gathering, wedding reception or any other event, please come and see what Northwest African American Museum has to offer. All rentals include entry into the museum for self-guided tours. Guided tours are available for a nominal fee to your group or party.
Rentals are available 7 days a week. We provide the set up, take down and major janitorial services. The Museum has a list of preferred catering services available on request.
