Continuing our series of documentary films highlighting little known African American histories and discussion of their impacts affecting society today, Northwest African American Museum presents, Business in the Black: The Rise of Black Business in America 1800’s – 1960’s.
Business in the Black is a documentary that examines how slaves went to college and what racists did to destroy black business districts. The film goes on to highlight successful businesses and organizations as well as Black entrepreneurs who were millionaires between the 1800’s -1960’s. It also features captivating interviews with people and organizations that helped foster black business development.
Following the film, there will be a post-screening conversation with filmmaker Anthony Brogdon and DeCharlene Williams of the Central District Chamber of Commerce.
