Teens in Fashion Intensive is an authentic application of fashion design as a vehicle for youth to engage in self-expression. Participants will find their voice and explore concepts of identity, vision, and empowerment as they relate to fashion design and culture. Their work will develop participating youth’s competencies in the areas of learning, innovation, and life and career skills.
Teen Fashion Intensive: Inspiring Beauty, Posing Beauty is designed to invite area youth with any level of art or fashion education (beginner to advanced) to explore concepts of identity, vision, and empowerment in conjunction with the exhibition Inspiring Beauty: 50 Years of Ebony Fashion Fair (BAM), Posing Beauty in African American Culture (NAAM), and Cornish College of the Arts’ prestigious Teen Summer program. This project is a fashion design intensive targeting high school aged youth throughout the region. Area teens will articulate their vision and create their own looks, with a focus on the artistic process and the professional world of fashion.
Finished looks will be exhibited at a final event on Friday, August 5 from 4pm-5pm at the Cornish College of the Arts Main Campus Center Gallery.
The cost of this program is $100. However, scholarships are available. Students can email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 206-726-5148 and will be guided through the scholarship application.
Space is limited so please register at cornish.edu for this exciting opportunity by June 30, 2016!
