Join us for a full day of activities! Art making opportunities and tours will be available for our Funky Turns 40 exhibit. Our special performance of Fortune’s Bones by Eva Abram will take place in addition to previews of educational materials including curricula and story trunks.
Dinah, an 18th century enslaved person from Connecticut, tells a story of slave ownership beyond death. When her husband Fortune died, their owner rendered his body to keep the bones to teach medical students. This personal story about the life and death of Fortune explores a little-known chapter on the extent of cruelty against enslaved people.
This is a performance about young people age 10 and above who have learned about slavery.
