Join us for our annual MLK Jr. Day celebration. This year, we are pleased to announce we will be having Rev. Dr. Leslie D. Braxton, Pastor of New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, as our keynote speaker from 1-2 pm along with other speakers and performances.
Throughout the entire day, we’ll be showing films of Dr. King, Freedom songs will be playing all day, children’s Freedom & Justice art activities, interactive storytime for toddlers with Seattle Children’s Theatre, a popup Soul Cafe by Chef Lawrence Stubbs, and much more!
Schedule of films & program in the Legacy Hall:
11:15 am-12:00 pm-“The Other America” speech
12:15 pm-1 pm-“I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech
1 pm-2 pm-Keynote program with Rev. Dr. Leslie D. Braxton, vocal performances, and other dignitary remarks.
2:15 pm-4:15 pm-“Selma” film
4:30 pm- 5 pm-“I Have A Dream” speech
At the top of each hour in our reading room in the library, Seattle Children’s Theatre will be doing interactive storytelling for toddlers.
All day long, in our studios, we will be providing Freedom & Justice art & craft activities for all ages, along with an Instrument Zoo with the Seattle Symphony playing Freedom songs, and much more!
Entry to the exhibit spaces is FREE by donation.
