The Black Soundtrack with Charles Mudede
Charles Mudede, a film critic and filmmaker whose work has been shown at Sundance and Cannes, will explore–with sound, clips, and words–different sections and periods of cinematic history to celebrate the black image in motion pictures. This exploration will be global; we will see still and moving images of blacks in European cinema, blacks in American cinema, and blacks in Asian cinema. It will also be inspired by the works and ideas of the black British musician Barry Adamson (Soul Murder), the post-colonial theories of black French Hegelian Franz Fanon, and the black American director Charles Burnett (To Sleep With Anger). Expect nothing but the big picture.
